The DBS Field Office is located on the second floor on the west end of the building. The Chapter Meets in the large conference room. You enter the building on the first floor through the front entrance. Once inside you can take the stairs or an elevator to get to the second floor. To use the elevator follow the staircase around until you come to a main corador. Depending on which side of the entrance you enter the building the stairs will be located on your left or right. Once in the main corrador turn left or right to find the elevator door.

If you use the elevator or the stairs you must turn left once on the second floor and follow the corrador all the way to the end. The entrance to the DBS Office is the last door on your left. Whenyou enter the office listen for other members waiting for the meeting. This is a great way to quickly find the conference room.

The meeting agenda includes reports about state and national activities and events, discussions of chapter business and a presentation given by a chapter member or a guest speaker. The meeting is usually followed by lite refreshments.

A Note to Bus Riders:
The nearest bus line is located approximately a half mile from the Coper Center where the DBS Office is located. This route runs very infrequently; especially on weekends. For this reason we recommend that you seek other modes of transportation to reach our current meeting location.

San Antonio is serviced by the Via Metropolitan Transit Authority. Via operates fixed-route service, downtown streetcars, special event, and paratransit services. Contact information and useful links for various Via services appear below:

By Taxi

A large number of taxi companies serve the Greater SanAntonio Area many of which belong to local cab co-ops that manage dispatch and other services. We highly recommend three major taxi companies in San Antonio that provide outstanding service to the blind of our area. Very few guide dog users in the San Antonio Area have experienced difficulty with refusal by taxi companies due to their use of a guide dog. These three major companies are as follows:

Addditional Information

Town Car San Antonio operates dispatch for Yellow Cab of San Antonio in addition to the Town Car Service. They operate Lincoln Town Cars that take taxi service above the norm by offering special amenities including in-vehicle DVD players, extra room for large passengers, outstanding service, and a positive cab experience. As they are fond of saying,"The next time you call a taxi don't be surprised if you are picked up by one of our blueLincoln Town Cars."

Yellow Cab of San Antonio has several vehicle types including large 6-passenger vans. These vans are great for transporting small groups going to the same destination or for bringing home that weekly load of groceries and other store-bought items. Be sure to request one of these vans the next time you shop or plan to attend an activity with some friends.

Several members can recommend specific cab drivers that provide superior service to blind and disabled passengers. If you wish to attend a future chapter meeting, activity, or are visiting our city for business or pleasure contact us for a recommendation.
