San Antonio Chapter

January 21, 2012

The meeting was called to order at 1:00 by President Jose Martinez.

The first item on the agenda was Presidential release number 402.

One of the main highlights of the release was the notification that The Braille Monitor and the Presidential releases will be available on a USB drive rather than cassette tape. An envelope will be included with the Braille Monitors, if members do not need them for further reference, it is requested that the USB drive be returned for reuse.

Old Business:

The Fund Raiser Committee gave an update on the Fund Raiser Dance to be held February 10, 2012, at the Royal Palace Ballroom. There will be three raffles held through out the dance. Prizes to be awarded are Three Liquor bottles, which Denise Rodriguez was able to get donated. Dress attire is to be Dressy Casual (No Jeans, Tank Tops or Shorts)

Dining in the Dark is on hold until after the scheduled dance.

No update at this time.

All projects are on hold until after the Washington DC Legislative Semina.

Braille classes will begin meeting twice a month:

Classes are progressing; the need to break down to smaller groups has become necessary in order to accommodate different skill levels.

New Business:

Outgoing Chapter President Jose Martinez - who served in this position for three years, gave his Farewell Speech. Thanking Brian Baldwin for all of his hard work for the chapter. He also thanked the refreshment committee for the refreshments that have been served over the past year. President Martinez also stated that he was looking forward to the future accomplishments of our chapter.

The Call for the Elections for Officers and Board Member was made by President Martinez. The outcome of the elections was as follows:

After the elections were completed, the newly elected Chapter President Athalie Malone thanked the outgoing Chapter President Jose Martinez for his years of service and support for the San Antonio Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind.
