NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND OF TEXAS San Antonio Chapter Announces Upcoming Braille Class The National Federation of the Blind of Texas San Antonio Chapter is sponsoring a Braille class which will take place beginning on Saturday, August 20, 2011, from 10:30 A.M. to 12:15 P.M. at the Bordon Building, 4241 E Piedras Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78228, on the corner of Centerview and East Piedras Drive. Blind youth, blind adults, and blind children and their parents are welcome to register. Sighted adults who have a connection with blind people are also welcome to enroll. At present, 90 percent of blind children are not taught Braille, and 70 percent of blind adults are unemployed. With the upcoming Braille class, prospective students will learn to read and write Braille, as well as learn various ways of using Braille in their daily lives. Students will learn Braille from successful blind role models that use Braille on a daily basis. By enrolling in the Braille class, students will gain knowledge, fulfillment, self-esteem, and belief in themselves by learning a whole new system of reading and writing.
